welcome to attend. Conference participants will have Thursday evening free
to attend a Casper Rockies baseball game, shop at the mall, or take in a
movie. On Friday, speaker Robert O’Neil will present Understanding Your Staff/Understanding Your Company. Robert will incorporate
age and cultural differences among people into a discussion about how
employees relate to their employers and how employers relate to employees.
One of his focuses will be on how to more effectively communicate in an
organization given these differences in age and culture.In part of his presentation, Robert will ask people in the room who supervise other people to write down the ten things they think are the most important parts of the jobs of the people they supervise, then also ask the people who are doing the jobs to write down the ten things they think are the most important. Then each group will compare notes and discuss their differences. Robert will conclude the seminar with tips on how individuals can improve communication by having a better understanding of the inherent differences of the people in an organization. Friday evening, WYTRANS will honor the legislators who sponsored the legislation that gives $1 million of additional public transit operating funds. There will
also be a Casino Night and a costume contest. Costumes should reflect the
conference theme, “Transportation in the Future.” Some very nice
prizes will be auctioned off at the end of the night. WYTRANS will also
have some great raffle items. Those attending Saturday’s Awards Banquet
will be eligible for a $100 cash drawing donated by CATC.Saturday morning drivers need to report to the Bus Roadeo site at the Faith Assembly of God Church at 9 a.m. for a wheelchair securement workshop before the bus roadeo. The bus roadeo will begin at 10 a.m. Contestants will draw numbers for the driving order just before the contest begins, and judges and contestants will walk through the driving course. Awards will be presented to the top five bus roadeo contestants. New this year, all top five roadeo finishers will receive WYTRANS jackets. The first-place bus roadeo winner will receive $500 cash and a trip to CTAA’s 2005 National Bus Roadeo |

and EXPO. Second place will receive $250; third $100; fourth $75; and
fifth-place $50. If the first-place winner cannot attend the National Bus
Roadeo, the trip will be offered to the second-place winner, etc. WYTRANS will hold a Driver/Escort Competition at the Bus Roadeo on Saturday. The event requires the escort and driver to load and unload a passenger using the lift and to secure the passenger in the vehicle while being timed. All transit drivers and escorts are eligible to compete in the contest. The roadeo should conclude around 2 p.m. Drivers and judges will then meet at the Central Wyoming Senior Center, 1831 East Fourth Street, for a barbecue. The bus roadeo results will be announced at the barbecue, along with WYTRANS annual award winners. Bus vendors will be on hand with their newest equipment and the latest technology. The conference is a great place to network with other managers and drivers, and you don’t want to miss it. The phone number for reservations at the Casper Holiday Inn by the River is 307-232-2360.
