The WYTRANS Board will meet Thursday from 4:30
p.m. to 7 p.m. All WYTRANS members are welcome to attend. Conference
participants will have Thursday evening free to see a play, go to a movie,
go to the mall, or just relax. On Friday, Michael Sinclair will present a Safety and Security Workshop. Michael is the Security System Administrator for RTD in Denver. The workshop is designed for managers and drivers and will include how to promote safe operations in a transit environment; dispatch strategies; redirecting aggressive behavior; crime prevention through environmental design; and conflict resolution techniques. His presentation will include a live incident videotape from the RTD transit system. Friday afternoon, Marge Cole and Sean Solan will review the latest FTA Drug and Alcohol regulation updates for supervisors and managers. Keeping up with the many changes of the FTA drug and alcohol rules and procedures may seem overwhelming. Marge and Sean can assist with what policy updates need to be made, how confidential files should be maintained, and other helpful information. John Dow, FTA Region 8 Community Planner, will speak to conference participants on Friday from 1 to 2 p.m. about the reauthorization of the Federal Transportation Act. On Friday afternoon, Emily Howery will teach Bloodborne Pathogen Awareness. This class includes hands-on cleanup of imitation pathogens. Friday evening dinner begins at 5:30 p.m. with a Hawaiian theme. Hypnotist Steve Marino will provide entertainment with his unique style of stage hypnosis where the volunteers become stars by unleashing their talents in a fun-filled, tasteful manner. Steve is a certified member of the American Board of Hypnotherapy as well as an accomplished hypnotherapist. He has been called the goodwill ambassador for stage hypnosis because of the dignity and respect he displays towards his “hypnotic guests.” Three very nice items will be raffled off at the conference and participants are eligible for door prizes that will be given away throughout the conference. Door prizes include a five-inch TV and |
a clock/CD player.Saturday morning drivers need to report to the Bus Roadeo site, the old Consolidated Freightways lot at 1900 Cutler, at 9 a.m. for a wheelchair securement workshop before the bus roadeo.
